Location and Geography : Badagry is a small historic town in the
Western part of Lagos, in Nigeria. It shares border link with the
Republic of Benin at Seme, a region between Nigeria and Benin Republic.
The geography of Badagry is defined by the prescence of a flat terrain,
river and link to the atlantic ocean. Due to these, the major premitive
occupations of the people include : fishing, farming, and mat weaving.
History : Badagry, according to history belongs to Benin
Republic. In the war of expansion, Oyo empire conquered the Dahomey
empire and subjected them under Oyo. It is stated that Oyo demanded for
able-bodied men and women as tributes from Dahomey(Republic of Benin).
This is why the Egun tribe of Benin is found also in Nigeria. Meanwhile
in the war, Oyo empire acquired some parts of Badagry. However, Badagry
was fully acquired when president Apiti of Benin Republic sold the town
officially to Nigeria due to famine that erupt in Benin at that time.
Culture : Badagrians are very cultural people. In fact, a display
of the culture takes place at the Badagry Festival, an annual festival
to display and celebrate the people's culture.
Tourism : Badagry is recognised both inside and outside of
Nigeria as a great tourist attraction. Many tourists from around the
world including Asia, Africa, Europe, North America and South America.
In fact, in recent years, Badagry have received more tourists from
Brazil than any other nation in the world.

The First storey building was built in Marina Badagry. It was built in 1845 by Rev. Henry Townsend.
